Press Teleconference: Thurs., July 14 @ 10:00 am PT
With case numbers increasing rapidly in L.A. and elsewhere and extremely limited vaccine doses available nationwide, AHF will propose the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health implement a six-point plan to ramp up education on the virus and its prevention as well as share surveillance data
LOS ANGELES (July 13, 2022) AHF, the largest global AIDS organization with treatment clinics or operations in 45 countries, will host a Zoom Press Teleconference THURSDAY, July 14 at 10:00 am PT (1:00 pm ET) to propose a six-point plan of action on monkeypox to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The plan grew out of frustration by AHF and other health advocates with the lack of clear communication and action by L.A. County DPH on the global monkeypox outbreak, which is approaching its two-month mark next week and which has disproportionately affected gay men or men who have sex with men (MSM). The World Health Organization (WHO) reports there are now more than 6,000 cases in 66 countries, in an outbreak that began with a few cases being reported outside of Africa starting mid-May in Europe.
