Yoimiya's debut banner came out in Genshin Impact August 2021 and it has nearly been a year since players got to pull for her. The Queen of the Summer Festival will be available in Genshin Impact Version 2.8 from August 2 to August 23, 2022.
When Yoimiya first became playable, fan reception to her was mixed. This was mainly because of her arrow tracking which was really buggy when she was released, which led to a lot of the Genshin Impact community turning away from her.
Yoimiya is also a bit unlucky when it comes to banner placements. Her debut banner was between Kamisato Ayaka and Raiden Shogun, considered among the best characters in the game. And even on her re-run, she is placed between Kaedehara Kazuha, one of the most-wanted characters in the game and the Sumeru release.
However, a year has passed since then and there are many players who use and main Yoimiya and even clear the Spiral Abyss with her, so she’s certainly viable. If you are wondering if you should spend your Primogems or Intertwined Fates, this article will explain Yoimiya’s strengths and weaknesses.
Yoimiya is super easy and straightforward to play, even on mobile. Using her Elemental Burst and just tapping attack is all you need to do for the most part.
If you’re a free-to-play player, then Yoimiya could make great use of 4-star bow weapons like the Rust, Hamayumi, and Prototype Crescent.
Her team composition choices are also great considering that most of her best teams are made up of 4-star characters as she works great with support characters. Yoimiya can be used with Xingqiu and Fischl (who is currently free in Version 2.8’s Golden Archipelago Event) along with a flex spot that can be occupied by Sucrose or Kaedehara Kazuha if you have him. You can also switch things up by using Bennett, Fischl, and Beidou with Yoimiya.
Yoimiya herself can also buff your other party members using her Elemental Burst, Ryuukin Saxifrage. Yoimiya's Passive Talent 2, Summer Night's Dawn, buffs your other party members’ ATK by 10-20% for 15 seconds when you use her Burst. The effect can also be increased, depending on how many number of "Tricks of the Trouble-Maker" stacks Yoimiya has when using her Burst. Each stack can increase this ATK Bonus by 1%.
Yoimiya’s arrows can only target one enemy at a time. Considering how her entire character along with her kit involves fireworks, it’s quite puzzling why she’s not capable of AoE damage.
While Yoimiya’s damage isn’t bad per se—it’s actually decent if you are facing a single enemy—the problem becomes apparent when you have to face multiple enemies. Since she can only target one enemy at a time, she has to deal a lot of damage to compensate for the lack of AoE to keep up with her counterparts.
The combination of not only being a single target damage dealer but also having buggy arrow tracking meant that Yoimiya often found herself at the bottom of many players’ tier lists, at least when it came to 5-star characters. Players who pull for her have to keep this in mind.
